The Denim Shirt

Fall Fashion time is here! One of my favorite trends is the denim shirt. It's been around for a while but it's even bigger this year! Whether your shirt is dark or light, short or long doesn't matter. You probably have one hanging in your closet right now!  You can style this staple so many different ways! Here are a few ways for you ladies to wear your blue jean duds!! *disclaimer- these pictures are a work in progress! Maybe next time they'll be better- but at least for now you can get the gist!*

Tuck that puppy in! Wear your jean shirt tucked into a skirt (short or maxi) or high waisted shorts or pants for a cutsie look! You can also do the "fraternity front tuck"- this is especially cute with colored skinny jeans!

As a jacket: Wear your denim top over dresses, rompers, or a tee- you can't go wrong. If you have a button up that doesn't quite button properly thus showing the gals off a bit too much this is the way to wear it! Leave that baby unbuttoned & you'll look super jazzy!

Tie it around your waste! Although it reminds me of my 90's alternative rock, Nirvana loving teen years, I love this look. It screams I'm stylish & cool but I don't try too hard.

Do's and don't's: Do wear mixed shades of denim. If your shirt is light denim, your pants should be dark denim & vice versa. Don't wear matching shades of denim- you will look like Brittany Spears & Justin Timberlake at the AMAs circa 2001. Do wear a fun belt & large colorful necklace if you wear denim on denim- you've gotta break it up! Do pop your collar if you're the preppy type!

How about a what not to wear: Don't wear a short denim shirt with leggings- not even black leggings- just don't! If you want to wear a denim top with leggings make sure it's more of a tunic type top. Your entire crotch & booty regions should be COMPLETELY covered. I know it's comfy, but just resist. If your denim shirt is not long enough you can wear it as a jacket over a tunic with leggings!

Tip: *Until it's cooler outside just roll up the sleeves for a breezier feel. Rolling up the sleeves before putting on your shirt makes for much more even & symmetrical sleeves- you don't want one side past your elbow & the other dangling at your wrist- not cool.*
